AVT Profile:  Wheels and Tires

Position:  Senior Technical Specialist
Language: English

Key Projects
  • Worked on the industry first 50 series radial tire, the T/A Radial, at BF Goodrich
  • IMSA R/S race series - provided support for tire performance
  • Design and development of 22" and 21" wheel and tire package for Fisker Karma hybrid vehicle.  Stress analysis to optimize weight and meet package constraints of cast and forged wheel options.
  • Designed a highly styled wheel product line that enabled the group to achieve the highest revenue growth in Ford Motor Company
  • Project engineering manager for re-sourcing wheels from Ford - Visteon.  This program required moving a business of 6 million parts annual volume to new facilities with no breaks in production supply
  • Designed and developed a new concept full face dual wheel - patented
  • Wrote and validated VSA computer models to determine effects of wheel end system tolerances, match mounting capabilities, and assembly line balance capabilities
  • Participated in SAE Wheel Standards Committee, Wheel Nut Seat Subcommittee, and Wheel Balance Weight Subcommittee.  Derived the nut seat area loading formula shown in SAE Standards J2315
  • Quantified effects of wheel lateral runout in dynamic balancing, SAE paper 951050
  • Design and release of wheels and related components.  Developed Engineering Specifications for  wheel standards, welding, paint and police service. Developed strategies for NVH improvement. Participated in development of uniformity specifications and match mounting strategies
  • Analysis of cord-rubber composite structural effects on tire cornering characteristics. Developed vehicle handling models
